The places of the museum system, which surround the entire territory of Seulo, are the inter-communal protected area (Seulo / Sadali) established around the natural monument "Stampu 'e Su Turrunu" and the valley of the Flumendosa between lakes Bau e Muggeris and Villanovatulo.
From the garrigues of Gennargentu to the calcareous 'Tacchi', till the Flumendosa's riverbank is preserved a rich heritage of biotopes, monumental trees, rural architectures and archaeological evidences of the Neolithic.
The prevalent kind of forest is that of holm oak, but are enough extended forests of oaks and chestnuts, walnut and hazelnut trees.
The undergrowth is rich of plants like cistus, arbutus, juniper, lentisk and the common heather. In April it's possible to see the peony's flowering.
The Ecomuseum of Alto Flumendosa is a cultural institution of the Municipality of Seulo, founded in 2002 and managed by the namesake cooperative society. The Institution benefits from a contribution of Autonomous Region of Sardinia and is engaging in activities of environmental's safeguarding and valuation, historical and artistic heritage of the territory of Barbagia of Seulo; it promotes the variety of the sardinian internal landscape and valorises its naturalistic specificity and ethnographic wealth.
The ecomuseum offers tour guides focused on the valorization of different thematic itineraries: the natural environment and geology, the botanical peculiarities and the forest heritage, the agricultural landscape, pastoralism, water, architecture and urban settlement.
